When we put something on a pedestal, we create a kind of resistance that keeps us from getting it. It keeps us further away, and in the process keeps us away because we want it even more. If this is what you want, go ahead. Putting things, people, anything on a pedestal only leads to us being on the other side of the thing and looking over at it from over the fence, not being able to get over and get a taste of it. It is only by letting it go that it may come towards us, even come to us in ways that we didn’t even think about in the first place. This is why it’s important to just live the life that you like to live from day to day. Try framing things differently to remove resistance from your life and let everything unfold as it does. When we chase, we leave behind our integrity and also leave behind any sense that we will ever get the thing in mind. Because it seems so far away, we can only dream about the thing and make it even more dream-like in a sense.

We keep on pushing things away because we want them too much. Wanting is a state of mind, where the mind actively thinks about and glorifies the thing that we want. This creates internal resistance, which reiterates evidence that we haven’t reached our goal yet, which subconsciously reiterates evidence that we’re losers that can’t ever get to our goals. We need to do things that spark interest and that we can follow through on, that doesn’t feel like a chore. It should be a fun process that teaches us progress and that we can track to know that we are on the right way. By tracking progress, we can keep an eye out for what has gone well and what can be done better in the future.
