Life without Limits

The only limits in life are the ones you make.

What did you want to be when you were younger? An astronaut? Firefighter? Batman? When I was younger I wrote a letter to Batman, letting him know that I was going to be his sidekick after I perfected my crime fighting skills. Rudely, I never heard back from him.

But it is this immeasurable sense of self and wonderment, that so many of us lose as we age. Whether this is due to societal pressures, lack of confidence, or even growing bitter after suffering one too many rejections and setbacks.

But here’s the thing, it’s the limits that YOU set for yourself that are holding you back. Forget about being the sidekick in life, you are Batman! You get top billing, and probably a movie every 7 years.

Think about it, within the last century, mankind not only learnt how to fly, but rocketed a spacecraft to the moon and back. Talk about the sky not being the limit! That may be a more extreme example, but in reality, it is the same paradigm that we need to apply to our everyday lives.

Regrettably, we often limit our true potential everyday. Are you a teenage boy, too embarrassed to admit that you want to be a dancer? Are you holding on to the railing with dear life, afraid to take that next step that will realize your dream of becoming a business owner, singer or even Wonder Woman? Well, what’s stopping you? Other than copyright infringement?

Our perspective limits our outlook on life, and we often fail to appreciate that there are a myriad of ways one can view and experience life. With new lens, we can see a whole new world. Where will your magic carpet take you?
