The Greatest Storyteller

An ode to my Appa, my grandpa; I grew up listening to his stories- very special and close to heart.

Wrinkles etched on your face,
Hair balding, greyish-white
Yet the vibrant colors of your imagination,
Painting my childhood so bright.

Every afternoon, a ritual
Depriving you of your siesta,
My never-ending “one mores”
Your stories to me were like a fiesta.

Much as was I fond of listening;
Were you of narrating,
Renewing the child in you;
Exploring your fantasy world, anew.

You became no Agatha Christie
No fame to your name,
But if the world were to hear your stories,
They would be blazing in your flame.

So blessed am I to be ignited by you,
Your stories though not written,
Will remain in my heart forever and ever
For you are my greatest storyteller.
