Let’s take a look before we hit 2022

Every year we see technology developments grow to enormous lengths as the rate of innovation increases YoY. A couple of years ago, I started to keep track of the major tech trends that have developed and have written about what I think will be trending and experiencing growth in every new year.

For 2022, we will see not only innovations but older technologies that will grow to newer heights. Taken from insights from McKinsey, Deloitte and of course myself, here is a list of these new tech trends that we will hear more about in the new year.

As someone who’s been working in the cybersecurity industry for a few years now, I’ve seen my fair share of growing security trends present and growing.

Although many trends will occur in 2022 (like Cyber, including fraud AI), some are more infant than others, which makes me believe they will take longer to mature.

One, however that has been growing rapidly recently and will, in my opinion, gain much more attention in 2022 is the concept of Zero Trust Architecture.

To put it simply, it means to “never trust always verify”. This concept protects modern environments with strong authentication models and prevents lateral movement.

The whole premise revolves around correcting an older notion around more traditional security architecture that states that everything inside an organization’s network should be trusted.

This means trusting your users, which we know in today’s world, could spell trouble, especially with malicious intentions from insiders or malware infecting a user’s systems internally. This means hackers or insiders can freely move ‘laterally’ in their own networks without security controls.
