How I landed on Medium.

And there is so much opportunity.

After giving birth to my baby girl and moving to England, it was time I did something apart from house making. Being a housemaker is great, but that is not everything I want.

I wanted more for myself.

But for a long time, I did not know what I wanted. I knew I wanted to write, but I am not good at it. So, either I had to do a course or learn as I go.

A few months after we move to Oxford I applied for my National Insurance number. I got an appointment for an afternoon on a weekday, Of course. My husband couldn’t take a day off to see my daughter. So me and my then 8 months old daughter went to Job center for the interview. It was a hectic afternoon but after one week I got my NIN.

As I got more desperate to go outside the house and do something, I started applying for jobs in Tesco and Boots, and for some reason, it did not go through. Also, there was the question of leaving my daughter at home with my husband. I was still nursing her. So hubs was a bit nervous in case she wanted me. I was nervous too.

All the while I still had nothing exciting to do and I was getting anxious to try anything.

I explored teacher training courses, it required a lot of time and energy. I was not ready to leave my daughter, yet. Daycare was a costly idea.

Then we moved to Brighton. Hubs motivated me to keep on looking. My daughter was quite independent at 2 now.

So last Christmas I filled out a form for The Royal voluntary Service. In March 2019, I got a call from them and I started volunteering on Saturdays in a Cafe in the Hospital.

It was good in the beginning. I thought I could do it. Hubs and my daughter would have fun in the morning playing while volunteered from 9 am to 1 pm.

One day while leaving the house, my daughter started crying because she did not want me to leave. I called in and said I couldn’t come.

The next week I had a migraine.
