Self-isolation= An opportunity!
We all wanted a break from the daily routine, from daily household chores, daily working for your office sitting in the same 4*4 cabin, daily meeting the same set of people who are not even family! Didn’t we? Bingo! We have it now .
Initially I was so confused and worried as of how am I going to continue my sessions, what would a person do at home whole day, what about the economic crisis we all would face after this get over? And answer to all anxious questions were within me. Yes, it was a voice within me who somehow managed to get over my brain and gave a signal to me saying, “Oh Nidhi, you always wanted a break! You so wanted to spend time with your family and not worry about the income! You wanted some time away from all, where you would not have to please anyone but yourself. Now is the time,pamper yourself!”
This is when I realised that, self care is much important. We all are so busy in our daily lives and our routines that we have forgot to keep a check on our physical and mental health. “Quarantine” sounds so vague, like what are we going to do the whole day? And I was one of you.
Okay, so let me tell you that quarantine is basically an isolation and when you have isolated time, you can have time to keep a track of your physical and mental health and how one can do? I will tell you..
To keep yourself physically healthy,
World Health Organization have given some guidelines on safe practices to avoid any infection. I would like to list them down…
1- wash hands frequently with soap and if you don’t have soap Available, use a sanitizer.
2- Practice Social Distancing that means stay away from anyone apart from you, almost one meter distance.
3- Wear a mask if you are having a flu, cold cough or if you’re taking care of a sick person
4- Avoid going out and getting in contact of any.
5- Eat Healthy Food and take less stress.
These are some precautions we all follow rigorously, but what about our mental health? No record of that?
I must tell you that you are healthy only when your physical and mental abilities are intact. Anxiety has been created amongst us about what would happen if we get infected, would we die out of infection? Anxiety is just an over worrying about a situation/threatening situation rather I would say and anxiety does not come from outside anxiety is created by us and yes we can avoid creating. What can we do to fight with the anxiety that’s created when we listen to any news about the virus and the people affected by?
Note down some-
1- Do not focus on the negatives, instead think of measures that could be taken to combat it.
2- Self care is must. Go ahead and pamper yourself which you really wanted to do but never had time to do it. Now is the chance, don’t miss it.
3- Meditate for a while daily. Meditation helps you calm your mind and body and when your body is at calm, your immune system gets strengthen.
4- Avoid unhygienic foods.
5- Do not take Stress. Yes, stress reduces the strength of our immune system and hence making us a weaker targets of the virus.
6-Be kind- my friends, we all are sailing in the same boat and we really do not know what would be the next stage life will show, let’s just be kind to everyone, to elders, to kids, to parents, to spouse.
7- Do what you like- when you do something that you really like,your mind will get a signal that you are happy and when your body gets signalled of being happy, your immunity increases automatically.
8- Spend good times with all. Share some jokes, groove in to the most favorite tune of yours.
9- Be patient enough to the elderly population, trust me it is way more difficult for them to understand the current situation than us.
10- Love yourself.
I would like to end my note by requesting you all to not share any news or claims about anything on the virus. We all are fighting against it and this shall too pass! But till than, let’s enjoy our lives happily with the ones we love the most and wait for the news that is confirmed and given by a trusted source.
