How to Plan Your First App

Making an app from scratch can be intimidating. There are some things that we can use though to make planning a bit easier on ourselves. We have all heard that before you start making a new app, to plan it all out. It is worth it though, because it makes the entire process much easier and lets you think through things before hitting the go button.

Another tool you can use is wireframes. Wireframes allow you to visually plan out your app and how it will look. This will let you go through each page and think through the visuals before staring at a blank screen. I enjoy wireframes because I have a hard time looking an ugly website. My wife does graphic design and has instilled in me this hate of ugly websites.

You can also use a todo list app like Trello to plan through other aspects of your app.

Once you are done planning you are ready to type in rails new your-app-name into your terminal and you’re on your way.
