5 Basic Rules for Ladies

Copyrights to the respective owners

I am tired of women complaining about not being treated as they want, by their partner or by those around them. That is certainly a reason to worry, but what concerns me even more is that they do not treat themselves properly; and if they do not start doing it for themselves no one will. Nowadays we are bombarded by opinions of how it is time for women to be strong. They are wrong, it is not the time for women to be strong, because we have always been strong. It is time however, to become ladies again, wanting to be one of the “bros” is so 2005.

I recently wrote about 5 basic rules for gentlemen and it would only be fair that I also write about women. In a similar way I write 5 very simple rules or checkboxes if you prefer, that you must follow.

Be courteous

This is something everyone should do, greet others, say please, say thank you. Being courteous and polite does not make you submissive, it makes you well-educated. Being courteous does not mean that you cannot firmly set your boundaries and stop someone if they are not behaving properly with you. You do not have to endure bad behaviour, you can perfectly cut that off politely.

Watch your Vocabulary

Use the full names of things, instead of abbreviations that can make you sound lazy. Do not swear, it sounds bad already when men do it; but sounds ten times worse when a woman does it. You do not want to look like a “bro”, you want to be a lady and be treated as such. Therefore, you can start by correcting your language.

Dress appropriately

I have already emphasised this before. It is important to dress neatly! You probably heard Coco Chanels’ famous: “Dress shabbily, they remember the dress; dress impecably they remember the woman”. She put it simply, and it is not hard. Something as simple as wearing clean clothing that is your size is a good start.

Take care of your appearance

It is embarrasing to have to write this but in all honesty: please wash your hair. I am shocked by how many women do not wash their hair after working out or are comfortable walking around with dirty greasy hair. No matter what clothes you are wearing you appearance takes a big hit if you are going around with dirty hair. Similarly, make sure your nails are clean, your hands are always displayed, take care of them.

Make sure you know what suits you best! Whether it is colours, styles, cuts, type of clothing it is important that you take that into account when getting ready. Yes, a woman can wear whatever she likes and blablabla but here were are not discussing what you can wear. We are discussing what is lady-like and what you should wear to look and feel your your best! As much as I may love some pieces I am aware that I am vertically challenged and that the same dress that looks amazing on a super model would definitely not look the same on me! Similarly, keep this in mind when it comes to come-and-go fast trends.

Do not get drunk

First, for your safety. Secondly, for your health. Finally, because there is nothing more pathetic than crawling back home while you cannot even say your name. No one likes drunk women blubbering, or debating whether to call their ex at 3a.m. The impression you would make on those around you will not be positive and you are reducing the likelihood of those meeting you wanting to meet you again.

I hope these points make sense to you, do not hesitate to give your opinion!

Best,

Your Kinderbarbie
